2024 was an incredible year for music, but the new year has got us thinking about what there is to look forward to in 2025 too. This includes upcoming releases, tours and potential announcements.

Albums:
Although we’re sure there will be many more exciting album announcements as the year progresses, there are a few albums scheduled for the first couple of months of 2025 that we are particularly excited for.

Ethel Cain – Perverts (January 8th) – The first release of the year that we’re eagerly anticipating is Ethel Cain’s ‘Perverts’. Her debut studio album ‘Preacher’s Daughter’ is, in our opinion, a masterpiece from start to finish and we can’t wait to hear what she has in store for us with this upcoming release. Having had the privilege of hearing some of the new songs live last summer (such as ‘Amber Waves’), we look forward to listening to them again and experiencing the album as a whole.

Inhaler – Open Wide (February 7th) – We can’t wait for the release of Inhaler’s third album ‘Open Wide’. We have had the lead single ‘Your House’ on repeat ever since it was released last October and are also enjoying the new sound of the titular track ‘Open Wide’ which was released as a single in December. Recorded with esteemed producer Kid Harpoon, it has been suggested that the band has stepped out of their comfort zone with this album and we look forward to hearing more of what that sounds like!

Sam Fender – People Watching (February 21st) – It has been a long three years since Sam Fender’s last album, so the announcement of his third studio album late last year had us thrilled. Every song from this album that has already been released, teased, or played live has had us hooked so we have no doubt that we will have the album on repeat once it’s released in February.

Live Shows:
Our 2025 calendars have quickly filled up with live gigs, all of which we’re keenly anticipating. We’re not going to write about them all, but there are a few notable UK tours/shows that we are particularly excited for.

Inhaler’s UK tour of their upcoming album Open Wide starts in Leeds on February 7th. We can’t wait to hear the new songs live, as well as see what songs from their previous albums have made the setlist. An Inhaler gig is always a good time!

Clairo is bringing the Charm tour to Europe in March, and having watched perhaps too many videos of the US leg last year we are ready to have our turn. Charm was one of our top albums of 2024 and we can’t wait to hear it live.

Wunderhorse are doing a handful of UK shows in May, including their biggest headline show to date at Alexandra Palace. Wunderhorse is one of our favourite live bands and it has been amazing to watch how much they have grown over the past year. Ally Pally here we come!

Fontaines D.C. have announced a number of big UK outdoor shows this summer, and we’re looking forward to seeing them at Finsbury Park in July. In 2022 the band supported Sam Fender at Finsbury and talked about how amazing it was to see him fill up the huge park with eager fans singing along to every lyric, and just a few years later they are doing the same themselves and we can’t wait to be there.

We of course can’t forget the highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour that starts in Cardiff on July 4th. After many Ticketmaster wars we were lucky enough to get our hands on tickets to one of their Wembley shows in September, but we are definitely going to have FOMO watching everyone else see them in the months before that.

Finally, we can’t wait to see what comes of the stadium shows Catfish and the Bottlemen have scheduled for the summer. It has been a rollercoaster of a year for Catfish fans (you can read more about that here), but with the band signed to new management we’re feeling optimistic about these shows going ahead and are excited to see what 2025 brings for Catfish.

Over the next couple of months we also have plenty of smaller gigs booked in, we’ll be seeing Cardinals, junodream, Balancing Act and The Murder Capital to name a few, all of which we are equally excited for.

It is only January and we already have so much to look forward to for the year. We’re sure there will be plenty of new announcements too!
